An IT novel
I just finished reading The Phoenix Project. It was recommended to me by an intern in his interview process. He read it in school and I think that’s an excellent idea for any IT student. It’s both instructive and pleasant to read.
I learned about The Three Ways, a term I wasn’t previously familiar with. However, its concepts relate to theories and practices that weren’t new to me, such as the Theory of Constrains and Agile.
- The First Way: Flow/Systems Thinking
- The Second Way: Amplify Feedback Loops
- The Third Way: Culture of Continual Experimentation and Learning
Reading about these concepts in the form of a novel makes them easy to digest. The recognizable characters and relatable situations made me laugh, think and reflect. The book refreshed and renewed my interest in tracing down bottlenecks that impact flow.
I know what I’ll be reading next: The Unicorn Project.
